Wonga wetlands, 2022

I made the drawings for this concertina book when I was visiting the Wonga Wetlands in Albury for an arts workshop. After years of drought and the expectation that this dry way of living is the new norm, the rains fell, and fell, and fell. And fell. These are studies of the fungi that were around at that time growing in the sodden land.

Months later I returned to the wetlands to discover that seats we had sat on and paths we had walked along only a few months earlier were submerged. Nearby at the spillway of the Hume reservoir, the full force of nature and the sheet amount of water was breathtaking and almost overwhelming in its power.
