The exhibition of new works was a collaboration with fellow artist Pamela Irving for The National Gallery of Victoria Melbourne Design Week 2024. Memoryware+New Narratives. It opened on 23 May with a thoughtful and insightful talk by artist and arts librarian from the State Library of Victoria.

The exhibition re-contextualised discarded objects + materials into new conversations. The works raised conversations about consumption and waste, the every day objects that go into landfill that we have made into art. Our use of sardine cans, an everyday object with a utilitarian design, was the foundation of the exhibition. Once the contents had been eaten, we created the Omega Series – a play on the essential omega 3 vitamin and the Greek letter Omega, representing the end, the ultimate limit.

Other works of mine included , Home Truths, a series of art and text on old serviettes; and short stories on paper.

Our exhibition resonated across generations. Audiences were fascinated with the materiality of the artworks, and importantly, with the themes contained in them.

We were thrilled to present Memoryware+New Narratives as a testament to the transformative power of art and the boundless possibilities of creativity. Through this exhibition, we invite you to reimagine the ordinary, forging new connections and narratives from the remnants of the past.

WORKSHOPS : The series of collage and art+ text workshops lead by Pamela and me accompanied that this exhibition reflected Design Week’s theme to “design the world you want”. They were engaging, playful and intimate. Participants took away a unique Memoryware + New Narrative artwork, and plenty of ideas and inspiration for future creative projects.
