Watercolours, drawings and writing from a week in June 2021, winter, a year ago now. Hard to reimagine where we were and how we were living in our 4th Melbourne lockdown.
When I started this book, I had already completed many nature studies books and wanted this one to be more freeform, the drawings to hover in space, the sea and sky loose. I spent a lot of time at the beach during the lockdowns – grateful for the vast space in front of me, the dynamic sea and sky and the little surprises to be found on a walk … a beautiful shell, a feather, flowers.
When I look back through this book, I am pleased to have documented some of my experiences of the lockdowns, of how I spent my time and, and the variety of things I noticed in the natural world in my much reduced local patch.
